Zack Wheeler Looks To Continue Velocity Uptick On Wednesday
7 years agoThe results may not be there in New York Mets starting pitcher Zack Wheeler’s overall statistics, but things are looking up for the 28-year-old. Wheeler’s velocity has been on the upswing over his last few starts, averaging upwards of 97 mph on his fastball in his last outing and topping out at over 100. In terms of velocity, this is the Wheeler we’ve been waiting for after he missed all of 2015 and 2016 due to complications from Tommy John surgery. He’s been alternating good outings with bad ones pretty much all year long, and Wednesday would be in line as a bad one, but if he’s going to hit 100 mph again, chances are he should dominate the Baltimore Orioles weak lineup. His current 5.14 ERA should drastically improve as summer approaches.
