Yankees, DJ LeMahieu Finalizing Six-Year Deal
4 years agoThe New York Yankees are finalizing a six-year deal worth $90 million with second baseman DJ LeMahieu on Friday, according to sources. LeMahieu had recently grown impatient with the slow pace of negotiations with the Yankees and told his representatives to reach out to other interested teams. The 32-year-old hit .336/.386/.536 in 195 games with the Yankees in the last two seasons and led the American League in batting average (.364), on-base percentage (.421) and OPS (1.011) last year, finishing third in the AL MVP voting after a fourth-place finish in 2019. Staying in the Bronx was always LeMahieu's first choice, so he gets his wish after a slow process of negotiation. As one of the best pure hitters in baseball, he's in play as the No. 1 fantasy second baseman.
