Twins Interested In Bringing Marwin Gonzalez Back
4 years agoThe Minnesota Twins have shown interest in reuniting with utility man Marwin Gonzalez, according to sources. Gonzalez spent the last two years in Minnesota, and the Twins could still use some utility help, especially around the infield. The 31-year-old switch-hitter fell off with the bat during the shortened 2020 season, but he still provided mostly solid defense with true plug-and-play versatility around the diamond. Gonzalez slashed just .211/.286/.320 (68 OPS+) with five home runs last season. The Twins have also been linked to former Dodgers utility man Kike Hernandez. Gonzalez has played middle infield before, but he'll mostly provide depth at the corner infield and outfield spots at his age. While his bat could easily bounce back in 2021, he's more beneficial in real life than in fantasy at this stage of his career.
