A.J. Ewing Promoted to Double-A Binghamton
A.J. Ewing has been promoted to Double-A Binghamton. The Mets' eighth-ranked prospect played 18 games at Single-A and 78 at High-A before his promotion, registering a .288/.387/.388 slash line with a pair of home runs and 44 steals during his time with Brooklyn. The 21-year-old also recorded a solid strikeout rate of 18.8 percent and a well-above-average walk rate of 13.1 percent with the Cyclones. He's played second base and every outfield position so far this year, so there are multiple pathways for him to continue to climb, and although he somewhat lacks in the power department, the speed helps to offset it. If he can continue to grow into additional power, there will certainly be added fantasy intrigue, so it's worth keeping an eye on how he performs for the rest of the year and into next year.
