Trey Lance Suffers Knee Sprain In Week 5
3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers rookie quarterback Trey Lance (knee) suffered a left knee sprain in the Week 5 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in his first career NFL start. The injury is not expected to be a long-term issue, but Lance could be sidelined for a week or two. The good news is the 49ers have a bye in Week 6, and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (calf), who still remains the starter when healthy, is expected to be back for a Week 7 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts. Lance went 15-for-29 for 192 yards, no touchdowns and an interception against Arizona, adding 16 rushing attempts for 89 yards on the ground. The 21-year-old third-rounder isn't likely to miss much time, if any at all, but it could be a while before he sees another start, depending on Garoppolo's health.
