New York Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz wasn’t an advisable fantasy play on Thursday against the Milwaukee Brewers, but he came through for both his team and fantasy owners in a 5-0 victory. Matz pitched up the win by throwing a scoreless six innings, allowing four hits and three walks with three strikeouts. The outing was encouraging for Matz from an earned run perspective, but there continues to be trouble under the hood here due to his lack of strikeouts. In his last five starts, Matz has struck out three or fewer four times, with the exception being a five-strikeout performance. If he’s not going to strike guys out, he’s not an advisable fantasy play due to penchant to get lit up at times.--John Smith
