Sterling Shepard Playing More Outside
7 years agoNew York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard, who started his career in the slot with the Giants, has been playing more as an outside receiver with more regularity in new head coach Pat Shurmur's offense. Shepard has taken 330 snaps on the outside with the Giants in his first two seasons, but he's been more of a slot guy. He took 83 percent of his snaps out of the slot as a rookie in 2016 and 75 percent last season, and all 10 of his career touchdowns have come in the slot. “That’s been that way since college,” Shepard said. “I feel like I’ve proven that I can play outside and just try to handle my business. I know that I can play outside, and we will soon see.” He has 124 catches for 1,414 yards and 10 touchdowns in his first two years and will be the team's No. 2 behind Odell Beckham Jr. That'll surely make Shepard valuable in all fantasy leagues in the middle rounds of drafts.
