Steelers RB Room Likely To Undergo Massive Overhaul
4 years agoThe Pittsburgh Steelers running back room is likely in for a massive overhaul this offseason after the team's top four running backs combined for just 1,230 rushing yards in 2020. James Conner, who will be a free agent, had 721 yards in 13 games and averaged 4.3 yards per carry with six touchdowns. He averaged just 2.87 yards after contact, per Pro Football Focus. General manager Kevin Colbert acknowledged on Wednesday that the team's ground game must improve. It was a combination of injuries and inefficient play along the offensive line, as they ranked 31st in run blocking last year. Center Maurkice Pouncey retired and Alejandro Villanueva, Matt Feiler and Zach Banner are all entering free agency. Pittsburgh will also be in a salary cap crunch, so it'll be interesting to see how they address their RB room and the offensive line.
