9/5:Los Angeles Angels general manager Billy Eppler said starting pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani (elbow) has not formally decided yet on whether he will undergo Tommy John surgery. The GM also wouldn't say whether or not it's realistic for Ohtani to return as a hitter next year if he has the surgery. The recommendation that Ohtani needs elbow reconstruction is a big blow to the Angels and any owners that were planning on keeping Ohtani the pitcher in dynasty leagues. If he undergoes Tommy John surgery, Ohtani will be out for all of 2019 as a pitcher, at least.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
