Ryan Mountcastle Breaks Out Of Mini-Slump
4 years agoBaltimore Orioles prospect Ryan Mountcastle went 1-for-3 with a double on Thursday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The hit broke a mini-slump that had seen the rookie go 0-for-5 with three strikeouts. Mountcastle is hoping to make the opening day roster either in left field or at first base in place of injured veteran Chris Davis. He's originally a third baseman. The rookie received his first taste of MLB action in 2020 and hit .333 with five home runs in 35 games, although he was aided by a .398 BABIP and his xBA was just .266. Mountcastle is ranked by Rotoballer as the 10th-best rookie for 2021 redraft fantasy leagues due to his power potential.
