Robbie Ray Strikes Out Six Batters in 2.1 Innings
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays starter Robbie Ray walked the first two batters he faced on Sunday but settled down and struck out the next three batters, including Miguel Cabrera. In total, Ray allowed just one hit, one run, and added another three strikeouts for a total of six before departing the game. The veteran hurler has now allowed two earned runs on two hits and two walks over 4.1 innings this spring. He has recorded eight strikeouts. A resurgence from Ray in 2021 would provide stability to the club's starting rotation behind Hyun-Jin Ryu. Ray had 68 strikeouts in 51.2 innings last year but also walked 45 batters although his control improved after he was traded from Arizona to Toronto.
