Retirement Not On Nelson Cruz's Mind
4 years agoMinnesota Twins designated hitter Nelson Cruz said that retirement is not on his mind after he re-signed a one-year deal to play in his 17th major league season. "My body feels great. My mind is still good, too. So there's no reason. I still love the game. I don't know what else to do. I have some plans after retirement, but I'm not ready yet," the 40-year-old said. Cruz has led the Twins in home runs in each of his two years with the team and ranked second and fourth among American League hitters in OPS. He's a six-time All-Star that has won the Silver Slugger award the last two seasons. Cruz hit .303 with 16 home runs and 33 RBI in just 53 games during the shortened 2020 season. The power continues to be prodigious, but his age and DH-only eligibility will likely continue to make him a value for fantasy managers for his pop.
