3 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds claimed veteran infielder Asdrubal Cabrera off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday. With Arizona well out of the playoff picture this year, they are effectively giving Cabrera a chance to play in the postseason later this season. The Reds are currently in the second wild-card spot in the National League. The 35-year-old put up a slash line of .244/.323/.392 with seven home runs, 40 RBI and 34 runs scored in 90 games for Arizona and will give Cincinnati some valuable infield depth down the stretch. Cabrera is also a switch-hitter, so he'll give the Reds some versatility as a late-inning pinch-hitter off the bench. His already low fantasy value will drop even more, though, with the move to a much more stacked Reds team.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
