Red Sox Have Strong Interest In Kike Hernandez
4 years agoThe Boston Red Sox have strong interest in free-agent utility man Kike Hernandez, according to sources. Hernandez has spent the last six years with the Dodgers and played for Puerto Rico in the 2017 World Baseball Classic when current Red Sox manager Alex Cora was the general manager. Michael Chavis, Yairo Munoz and Christian Arroyo are set to compete for playing time at the keystone, but Hernandez could see significant playing time at the position if he was added on the open market. The Twins have also been connected to Hernandez. The right-handed hitter can also platoon in the outfield with left-handed hitting outfielders Andrew Benintendi and Alex Verdugo. He has slashed .240/.313/.425 in seven seasons in the big leagues.
