Rams Acquire Brandin Cooks From Patriots
7 years agoThe Los Angeles Rams acquired wide receiver Brandin Cooks and a fourth-round pick from the New England Patriots on Tuesday in exchange for the 23rd overall pick in this year's draft and a sixth-round pick, according to league sources. It's a big move for a Rams team going all in, as they effectively replace Sammy Watkins, who left in free agency. In his only season in New England, Cooks caught 65 passes for 1,082 yards and seven touchdowns. Cooks has three straight seasons of 1,000 yards receiving, but he's a bit of a boom-or-bust fantasy option, and his fantasy intrigue will go down now that he'll have to compete for targets with Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp. He's also downgrading from future Hall of Famer Tom Brady to Jared Goff at quarterback. Back in New England, Chris Hogan and Julian Edelman will be the team's unquestioned top two wideouts, Unless they add another body in free agency, the likes of Phillip Dorsett, Malcolm Mitchell, Kenny Britt and Cordarrelle Patterson will battle for looks after that.
