Philip Rivers Aggravated By Criticism Last Year
5 years agoIndianapolis Colts quarterback Philip Rivers said "at times what may have aggravated me a little bit last year was (critics saying) that I couldn't play anymore." Rivers turned the ball over 23 times in 2019, including 20 interceptions, which were the third-most in the NFL last year. But the Colts think the 38-year-old can still play, and Rivers has started 224 straight games, has thrown for 59,271 yards and 397 touchdowns and has earned eight Pro Bowl invites in his career. Head coach Frank Reich, who worked with Rivers in San Diego, still thinks the QB can be elite. And Rivers will be playing behind the best offensive line he's ever had with plenty of offensive weapons, including two high-profile rookies in Jonathan Taylor and Michael Pittman Jr. He is 38 years old, but Rivers landed in a great situation with an offense he knows, which will make him a streamable QB2 in the right matchups.
