Patrick Mahomes 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook: A Rebound Year on Tap?
Patrick Mahomes led his team to a (15-2) record last season, good enough to secure the top spot in the AFC heading into the playoffs. Although the Chiefs could not capture a third-straight Vince Lombardi trophy, it was still a successful year. Despite Kansas City's success, Mahomes had his worst season from a statistical standpoint, barring his rookie campaign, throwing for 3,928 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 picks. Yet, he at least completed a career-high 67.5% of his throws while finding the end zone twice on the run, something he failed to do in 2023-24. The deck was stacked against Mahomes last season, with Travis Kelce seeing a significant decline in production. In addition, Rashee Rice, Marquise Brown, and Isiah Pacheco all suffered injuries, which certainly didn't do him any favors. The offensive line also had issues, resulting in Mahomes taking a career-high 36 sacks. All things considered, fantasy managers could see a turnaround season from the 29-year-old. However, Brown, Rice, and Pacheco must stay healthy. Kelce will also need to step it up on the receiving end, although his best days are likely behind him. Lastly, the club made the call to bolster the offensive line by selecting Ohio State offensive tackle Josh Simmons in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, a move that might improve things at the left tackle position. With that in mind, Mahomes is ranked in the top 10 (QB7) in RotoBaller's rankings for the 2025-26 season. While some believe the 2017 No. 10 overall pick isn't worthy of being mentioned in the same conversation as Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts, and Jayden Daniels, his ceiling is nearly just as high.
