4 years agoThe Carolina Panthers placed running back Christian McCaffrey (ankle) on Injured Reserve on Wednesday with his high ankle sprain. The move will keep McCaffrey out for at least three weeks. The team placed a four- to six-week timeline on his return on Tuesday. Carolina wants to make sure that their star running back doesn't try to return too soon from his injury and aggravate it. Mike Davis is in line for lead-back duties in McCaffrey's absence, and he has become one of the top waiver-wire pickups heading into Week 3. Wide receiver Curtis Samuel could also see some snaps out of the backfield to help pick up the slack, beginning in Week 3 against the Chargers.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
