4 years agoThe Carolina Panthers picked up quarterback Sam Darnold's fifth-year option for the 2022 season on Friday, as general manager Scott Fitterer said they'd do after trading for Darnold. There were some doubts that the Panthers would actually pick up the 23-year-old's fifth-year option before the draft. They also passed on taking a quarterback with the eighth overall pick in the first round of the NFL draft on Thursday night, further cementing Darnold as the unquestioned starter under center for at least the next two years. Carolina believes in Darnold, and he should be more productive now that he's no longer with the New York Jets. While many fantasy managers still won't be sold on him, he'll be a QB2 with upside with more weapons in Carolina.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
