Chiasson will be fighting for the first time since September 2022 when she suffered a TKO loss to Irene Aldana. Since then, she had two canceled fights, but only one was her fault. 1 week agoIn a striking masterclass, Sean O'Malley defeated Marlon Vera via unanimous decision in the main event of UFC 299 on Saturday night. O'Malley landed nearly triple the number of strikes, relentlessly piecing up Vera from range. Throughout the fight, O'Malley landed sniper-like left hands and hard right crosses. In the second round, O'Malley landed a thundering right knee to Vera's face, almost finishing him. Ultimately, Vera was able to survive, showcasing the durability he's come to be known for. Vera was outclassed throughout 25 minutes, with the judges scoring the bout 50-45, 50-45, and 50-44 in favor of O'Malley. The Ecuadorian fan-favorite showed signs of life as he started pressuring O'Malley in the fourth round, but it wasn't long before O'Malley took control again. 1 week agoBenoit Saint-Denis suffered a second-round knockout loss to Dustin Poirier in the co-main event of UFC 299 to drop to 13-2 as a pro. The opening exchanges between the fighters saw a barrage of powerful leg kicks from both sides. The momentum took a turn when Saint-Denis took ͏control of Poirier's back,͏ but Poirier defended well and countered with a guillotine attempt. In the end, it was Poirier who threw a right hook that knocked out Saint-Denis in the second round to end the fight. In 7:32 of action, Saint-Denis landed three takedowns and 50 significant strikes. 1 week agoGilbert Burns suffered a third-round knockout loss to Jack Della Maddalena on the main card of UFC 299 on Saturday. Burns relied on his takedown attempts and grappling while Maddalena scored with punches from range. It looked like Della Maddalena did enough to win the first round, keeping Burns at range, while Burns won the second round, taking Della Maddalena down and relying on his superior grappling. The fight reached its climax when Della Maddalena, escaping another takedown attempt, landed a massive knee that dropped Burns. Della Maddalena followed up with a barrage of elbows to finish Burns. 1 week agoJack Della Maddalena launched himself into the welterweight top five with a stoppage win over welterweight contender Gilbert Burns. Della Maddalena was arguably losing his fight with Burns, a former challenger for the belt, but landed a brutal knee strike late in the third round, before finishing the Brazilian veteran off with some elbows on the mat. In 13:43 of action, Della Maddalena landed 67 significant strikes. This was the biggest win of Della Maddalena's carrier, who called out Shavkat Rakhmonov during his post-fight speech. A win over the 18-0 Rakhmonov would certainly make the strongest possible case for a title shot.Source: UFC
1 week agoYadong Song suffered a decision loss at UFC 299 to former champ Petr Yan. Song entered the fight on a two-fight winning streak. In the first round, Song had success with his striking and wrestling. But, in the second round, Song struggled on the feet as the Russian outlanded him. Going into the third round, the fight was tied and Song was outstruck 45-to-42 while also being taken down and controlled for the final minute which sealed the deal. Song fell to 21-8-1 and one No Contest as a pro.Source: UFC
