2 weeks agoChris Curtis suffered a split-decision loss to Brendan Allen in the main event of UFC Vegas 90 on Saturday. Curtis replaced Marvin Vettori against Allen at UFC Vegas 90 on three weeks' notice. After losing the first round, Curtis came back and showed his impressive stand up game in the second and third round. Allen stepped on the gas in the fourth and in the fifth round to win the split-decision victory. In 25 minutes of action, Curtis landed 124 significant strikes, compared to Allen who landed 112. Allen was originally matched up with Marvin Vettori, who suffered an injury. Allen entered the bout riding a six-fight winning streak. Five of those wins came by way of submission. After five rounds, the judges scored 48-47, 47-48, 49-46. In 25 minutes of action, Allen landed six takedowns and 112 significant strikes. 2 weeks agoIn a closely contested featherweight showdown on Saturday, Morgan Charriere was on the wrong side of a split-decision announcement after his fight with Jose Mariscal. The first round was close but Mariscal did a bit more to win that round. The second round clearly went to Charriere, with the third round being the toughest to score. In the end, two judges awarded Mariscal the win, while the third official had it 30-27 for Charriere. In 15 minutes of action, Charriere landed two takedowns and 49 significant strikes. Over the 15-minute bout, Brzeski landed more strikes than Walker, convincing judges that he deserved the unanimous nod. The bout went the full three rounds and the win was awarded to Lukasz Brzeski unanimously. Walker controlled much of the contest with his grappling, but significant strikes went in favor of Brzeski. 2 weeks agoTrevor Peek suffered a unanimous decision loss to Charlie Campbell in the UFC Vegas 90 main card opener. Peek tried to turn the fight into a brawl but struggled to deal with Campbell's striking which was much more technical than his. Peek was outstruck in all three rounds to lose a clear-cut decision. With the loss, Peek is now 2-2 in the UFC as he fought out his contract, but the always-entertaining fighter should be re-signed by the promotion.Source: UFC
2 weeks agoCharlie Campbell scored a unanimous decision win over Trevor Peek in the main card opener of UFC Vegas 90. Campbell proved to be the more technical striker as he outstruck Peek in all three rounds. The American frustrated Peek, as his opponent tried to turn the fight into a brawl, but Campbell was able to piece up Peek to win a clear-cut decision. Giagos was one of the bigger underdogs heading into the event, and from the get-go, he was struggling with Bahamondes' size. Giagos got rocked by punches and then Bahamondes landed a head kick that dropped him and the ref stopped the fight.
