Ronald Acuna Jr. to be Reassessed Wednesday
Ronald Acuna Jr. (back) will be reassessed on Wednesday to determine his next steps. The 27-year-old was a late scratch for Tuesday's loss to the Athletics after tweaking his back in the weight room before the game, and Atlanta is being extra cautious with the face of their franchise. Acuna Jr. has made it clear he wants to participate in the All-Star game and Home Run Derby, but the team won't put him in danger of missing extended time if he doesn't feel right. Snitker noted that the training staff treated the Venezuelan native throughout Tuesday's contest, so the hope is that a day of rest was enough to shake his ailing back. He can be considered day-to-day until we're led to believe otherwise.Source: Mark Bowman
Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker reports that superstar outfielder Ryan Fox Playing Well Since Early Spring Struggles
Source: PGATour.com
Ryan Fox has won twice in 2025. The golfer from New Zealand most recently won the RBC Canadian Open in June and has five results inside the Top 20 over his past six events. Fox has shot 69 or better in three straight final rounds. That includes the U.S. Open at Oakmont. If one includes the Myrtle Beach win in May, Fox may be one of the hotter golfers few are mentioning. That may be because of his volatile start to 2025 where he missed several cuts at lower-tiered events. One ominous red flag may be again the word accuracy. Fox ranks 137th in driving accuracy at 55.9%). He is 131st in greens in regulation at 64.71%. With all the pot bunkers, sand saves at 52.27% (152nd) is yet another concern. Fox might be one to fade in DFS formats here.Malaki Branham Traded to Washington
Malaki Branham to the Washington Wizards. Branham was shipped out along with fellow guard Blake Wesley and a second-round draft pick in exchange for big man Kelly Olynyk. He will leave Texas after averaging only 9.1 minutes per game in 2024-25. Overall, Branham posted 8.5 points and 2.0 rebounds in 19.0 minutes with the Spurs over three seasons. Although he has shown some potential at times, Branham's fantasy outlook seems bleak after leaving San Antonio, since the Wizards have several guards ahead of him on the depth chart, including established players like CJ McCollum and Marcus Smart.Source: ESPN
The San Antonio Spurs have traded guard Max Greyserman has Solid History at the Genesis Scottish Open
Source: PGATour.com
Max Greyserman did play at the Genesis Scottish Open last year. The American golfer was inside the Top 20 most of the event and finished T-21 behind a final round 67. Greyserman fired all four rounds in the 60's in what could be described as fair weather by Scottish standards. He has played 20 events in 2025 and comes off a playoff tie for second at the Rocket Classic. He lost to Aldrich Potgieter on the fifth playoff hole in Detroit. Greyserman has seen his betting numbers shorten to +8000 for this week's event. While putting has been solid (24th in strokes gained), his 55.42% driving accuracy is always a concern. When he lands balls in the fairway, he gets in a rhythm quickly. Greyserman could be a bit of a wagering wildcard especially if the weather stays mostly benign. Blake Wesley Moves to Washington
Blake Wesley in a trade with the San Antonio Spurs. Wesley was part of a deal that saw San Antonio land veteran big man Kelly Olynyk. The 22-year-old moves to D.C. after spending three seasons with the Spurs. He averaged 3.7 points and 2.0 assists in 11.8 minutes per game. Wesley struggled to make an impact in Texas, and he also faces a tough battle for playing time in Washington, with veteran guards CJ McCollum and Marcus Smart ahead of him on the depth chart, along with young talents like Bub Carrington and Tre Johnson.Source: ESPN
The Washington Wizards have acquired guard Harris English Aims High for Scotland Next
Source: PGATour.com
Harris English has had quite the 2025 campaign. The American golfer won the Farmers Insurance Open earlier in the year. Also, English has made the weekend 14 of 16 times this season and stands 9th in FedEx Cup points. The United Kingdom has not been quite as kind to English. His efforts at the Genesis Scottish Open have not been poor but have been little of note. Finishing outside the Top 25 twice was not too much of a surprise as English does not truly thrive playing links-golf. The key with English is the putter. He ranks 17th in strokes gained at 0.396. More vital for the American may be his start. Typically, English averages 30.06 putts per round in Round 1. That ranks 162nd on tour and cannot happen in Europe. Corey Conners Primed for the Genesis Scottish Open
Source: PGATour.com
Corey Conners has enjoyed an excellent 2025 where he currently ranks 13th in FedEx Cup points. The Canadian golfer has five Top 10 efforts on the season already. Conners has only missed the cut once all year in 16 events. The one concern was that Conners did withdraw from the U.S. Open in June. His right wrist appears recovered enough to play in Scotland. Conners had enjoyed nine results inside the Top 30 in 10 tournaments before the injury. His accuracy is his biggest asset as Conners has a greens in regulation percentage at 69.03 (31st). Add in his 14th-ranked driving accuracy at 68.27% and Conners might have a decent chance when it comes to a Top 20 betting option. If he gets caught in the rough, Conners ranks 5th there at 66.27%. If Conners is 100%, utilizing him would be wise. Kelly Olynyk on the Move Again
Kelly Olynyk in a trade with the Washington Wizards. The Wizards only recently picked up Olynyk from the New Orleans Pelicans but are moving him on in exchange for guards Malaki Branham, Blake Wesley, and a 2026 second-round pick. Olynyk will add depth behind star big man Victor Wembanyama in San Antonio, which will limit his fantasy value. Last season, Olynyk averaged 8.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 20.3 minutes across 44 games with the Pelicans and Toronto Raptors.Source: ESPN
The San Antonio Spurs have acquired forward/center Daniel Brown Attempts the Scottish Swing Again
Source: PGATour.com
Daniel Brown played the two events in Europe last year with mixed results. The English golfer fired a 65 during Round 1 of The Open Championship. He held pretty firm after that and wound up with a Top 10 effort. However, Brown largely struggled at the Genesis Scottish Open in 2024. The Sunday was particularly rough as he shot a 74 falling further away from contention. He has finished twice in contention in three PGA career events. Brown has one international win in 2023 (ISPS Handa World Invitational). Recently, he triumphed at the BMW International Open as he held off Jordan Smith by two strokes. This tournament may serve more as a tuneup for the following week for Brown. Keep that in mind when it comes to betting options (currently +10000 to win). Anthony Davis Recovering From Eye Surgery
Anthony Davis has undergone a procedure to repair a detached retina that he suffered during the season, per ESPN's Shams Charania. The star big man is expected to be fully healthy for training camp. Davis is gearing up for his first full campaign in Dallas. Due to a groin injury, he was limited to only nine appearances with his new team in 2024-25, averaging 20.0 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 2.2 blocks in 29.6 minutes per game. With Kyrie Irving (knee) expected to be sidelined for most of next season, the stage is set for Davis to make a big impact.Source: Shams Charania
Dallas Mavericks forward/center Jacob Bridgeman Needs Putter to Work at Genesis Scottish Open
Source: PGATour.com
Jacob Bridgeman wants to get more birdie chances. When the American golfer does so, he has success. Out of 13 made cuts, he has finished inside the Top 25 seven times. Those extra rounds have boosted his strokes gained to putting to fourth on the PGA Tour (0.681). Consider that everything else concerning his game is mostly around average. Bridgeman does rank 39th in overall scrambling efficiency. The Renaissance Club is links-style golf with an American influence. Weather will play a role as Bridgeman is a +12000 long shot to win. With 4.08 birdies per round (29th), Bridgeman might be a look come Thursday or Friday in DFS formats.Nikola Jokic to Delay Extension Talks Until 2026
Nikola Jokic has no interest in signing a contract extension this offseason. The three-time MVP is eligible to sign a three-year, $200 million extension until Oct. 20, but he reportedly plans to delay contract negotiations until next summer. In 12 months, Jokic could earn an extra $77 million on his contract. Currently, Jokic is two years into a five-year, $276 million deal. Since Jokic still has several seasons left on his current contract, he isn't leaving anytime soon, and the Nuggets have no reason to panic. It's simply a financial decision for Jokic to wait until next summer before starting extension talks.Source: ESPN
Denver Nuggets center Sean Sullivan Punches Out Seven in Victory
Sean Sullivan tossed seven innings of one-run ball en route to picking up the victory over Double-A Portland on Tuesday evening. In this outing, Sullivan allowed just four hits and no walks. He struck out seven. This was Sullivan's second-straight contest tallying at least seven punchouts. Since allowing four runs on June 19, Sullivan has logged 17 innings (three starts) to the tune of a 3.18 ERA with a 1.06 WHIP. The 22-year-old has logged 56 2/3 innings with Double-A Hartford this season and posted a strong 3.06 ERA with an impressive 0.94 WHIP. He has shown elite control, allowing just 10 walks. Given his steady production with Double-A, the No. 8-ranked prospect in the system should be in the mix to join Triple-A later this summer.Source: MiLB.com
Colorado Rockies left-handed pitching prospect Kevin McGonigle Knocks Single in Double-A Debut
Kevin McGonigle went 1-for-4 with a single during his Double-A debut on Tuesday evening. McGonigle recently moved up to the top spot on the Detroit prospect list on MLB.com. He also now sits as the No. 7-ranked overall prospect on MLB.com. The former 2023 draft pick spent most of the first half with High-A West Michigan and posted a remarkable .372/.463/.648 slash line with 19 doubles, seven home runs, and three stolen bases. During this stretch, he drew 23 walks and struck out just 19 times. Last season, McGonigle spent most of his time with Low-A, where he held a .326/.407/.470 line. Even though the Monsignor Bonner HS product appears to be at least two seasons away from his MLB debut, he is quickly ascending prospect boards and should be in contention to be the top-ranked prospect in the sport at the start of the 206 campaign.Source: MiLB.com
Detroit Tigers infield prospect Max Clark Tallies Hit in Double-A Debut
Max Clark went 1-for-4 in his Double-A debut on Tuesday evening. Clark would hit a single in the third inning of the contest. The 20-year-old is considered the No. 2-ranked prospect in Detroit and the No. 12 overall prospect on MLB.com. The former third overall pick from the 2023 MLB Draft spent the first half of the season with High-A West Michigan. Through 68 games, Clark posted a solid .285/.430/.427 line with 12 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, and 12 stolen bases. During his first stint at High-A during the 2024 campaign, Clark held a lower .264/.344/.421 line. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Clark's progression with Double-A. If he can enjoy a strong second half, he could be in the mix to open the 2026 season with Triple-A, which would put him on track to join the majors later that summer.Source: MiLB.com
Detroit Tigers outfield prospect Jett Williams Knocks Three Doubles on Tuesday
Jett Williams went 3-for-5 with three doubles, two RBI, and two runs during their contest against Double-A Altoona on Tuesday evening. This was Williams' second multi-hit outing over his last two games. However, before this recent stretch, Williams held a .139 AVG with a .507 OPS over his last 11 contests. The 21-year-old has spent the entire first half of the campaign with Double-A Binghamton and held a solid .285/.397/.481 slash line across 73 games. He has tallied 23 doubles, gone deep six times, and swiped 24 bags. Last summer, the top-ranked prospect in New York held a much lower .172/.287/.241 line during his stint with Double-A. Given his steady progress this season, Williams should move up to Triple-A in the coming weeks.Source: MiLB.com
New York Mets shortstop prospect Lazaro Montes Hits Fourth Double-A Home Run
Lazaro Montes went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI during their contest against Double-A Tula on Tuesday evening. Since earning the promotion to Double-A, Montes has swung a hot bat. Through his first 13 games at the level, Montes has held a .298/.424/.660 slash line with a double, two triples, four long balls, a stolen base, and a 14:11 K:BB. Earlier this season, Montes received his second look at High-A ball and posted a .268/.387.572 line with 12 doubles and 18 home runs across 67 games. Even though Montes will not be in the mix to reach the majors this season, he is quickly progressing through the Seattle system. If he continues this pace, he may earn a brief taste of Triple-A later in the second half and be on track to reach Seattle in 2026.Source: MiLB.com
Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Owen Caissie Launches Two Long Balls on Tuesday
Owen Caissie went 2-for-5 with two home runs during their contest against Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday evening. This was Caissie's third multi-home run game since the start of the month. Since July 1, the top-ranked prospect in Chicago has posted a remarkable .462/.533/1.231 line with two doubles and six long balls. The former second-round pick has spent the entire campaign with Triple-A Iowa but is making a strong case to join the major leagues for the second half. Through 71 total games, Caissie has held a strong .282/.388/.575 slash line with 20 doubles and 18 home runs. Last season at Triple-A, Caissie logged 127 games and held a .278/.375/.472 line with 19 round-trippers. However, given Chicago's depth in the outfield, Caissie will likely need to wait for an injury to be given an extended look in the big leagues.Source: MiLB.com
Chicago Cubs outfield prospect Didier Fuentes Allows Eight Runs on Tuesday
Didier Fuentes stumbled during his start on Tuesday evening against the Athletics. In this contest, Fuentes logged just one inning of work and allowed five hits and eight earned runs. He served up two walks and struck out two batters. He allowed three long balls, including a two-run shot by outfielder Brent Rooker. In his previous outing, he enjoyed his best start at the MLB level, striking out six batters across 3 2/3 innings of two-run ball. Through 13 total innings in the big leagues, Fuentes carries a hefty 13.85 ERA with a 2.23 WHIP. He opened the season at High-A but needed only 13 innings there, 21 2/3 innings with Double-A, and just one start at Triple-A to earn the call to the majors. Given his troubles in Atlanta, he could be optioned back to the minor leagues in the coming weeks.Source: MLB.com
Atlanta Braves right-handed prospect pitcher Emmanuel Rodriguez Goes Deep Tuesday
Emmanuel Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in an 11-5 win against Triple-A Iowa. Rodriguez has caught fire at the plate in July, slashing .529/.636/.765 with a 5:5 BB:K in 22 plate appearances. The 22-year-old has maintained his incredibly patient approach with a walk rate over 20 percent for the season, along with chipping in five homers and six stolen bases. The contact quality has also been there, with a 44 percent hard-hit rate and a 12 percent barrel rate to go with a 113.6 MPH MaxEV. The downside is that he also strikes out a lot at 34 percent. It's a unique profile that we could soon see at the big level sometime later this season. He'd be an interesting upside add in deeper leagues.Source: MiLB.com
Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Ryan Helsley Manages 18th Save Of Season Tuesday
Ryan Helsley picked up his 18th save of the season in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Nationals. Helsley came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by two. He allowed a leadoff walk, got the first two outs on a fly-out and a line-out, allowed a single, and ended the game on a ground-out. The 30-year-old has not been as sharp as he has been in previous seasons, but he has converted 18 of 23 save opportunities with a 3.19 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP, and a 10.16 K/9 rate in 31 innings of work. The good news is that Helsley has turned in six consecutive scoreless outings with just one walk in those outings.Source: MLB.com
It wasn't clean, but St. Louis Cardinals closer Cade Cavalli Blasted For Seven Runs in Loss
Cade Cavalli allowed seven runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out two in 3.2 innings in a loss against Triple-A Worcester. Cavalli generated only four swings-and-misses on 44 swings in this one, good for just a nine percent whiff rate. The right-hander now has consecutive starts in which he has surrendered seven runs, the most he has allowed in a game all season. Cavalli was coming off a rough month of June, where he held a 5.64 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in 22.1 innings, and his first start in July will leave a mark. There were some whispers of Cavalli being promoted to join the Nationals rotation, but poor outings like this one leave some doubt for that to happen in the immediate future.Source: MiLB.com
Washington Nationals pitching prospect Patrick Bailey Hits Walk-Off Inside-The-Park Homer
Patrick Bailey produced one of baseball's more unusual plays in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Phillies. Bailey went 2-for-4 with a single, a walk-off inside-the-park three-run home run, and a strikeout. The 26-year-old faced Jordan Romano in the bottom of the ninth inning down by two with one out and runners on the corners. He drove a fastball off the top of the right-field brick wall, and it ricocheted all the way into left-center field, allowing Bailey to race around the bases to end the game. The 26-year-old has been a strong presence behind the plate for the Giants' pitching staff, but he hasn't provided much offensively. He is now slashing .194/.260/.294 with two HR and 26 RBI in 238 plate appearances.Source: MLB.com
San Francisco Giants catcher Jordan Romano Blows Save, Takes Loss Tuesday
Jordan Romano continued his disappointing season in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Giants. Romano came in to pitch the bottom of the eighth inning up by two with runners on first and second with one out. He ended the inning with a pop-out and a fly-out and stayed in to pitch the ninth. He allowed a leadoff double, got the first out on a pop-out, allowed a single, and then allowed a walk-off inside-the-park home run to end the game. It was certainly not a conventional outcome, and the Phillies' bullpen has been all over the place this season. Unfortunately, Romano has not been able to take advantage of any role opportunities. The 32-year-old is now 1-4 and has converted eight of 11 save opportunities with a 7.44 ERA, a 1.53 WHIP, and a 9.92 K/9 rate in 32 2/3 innings pitched. While he may continue to see save opportunities, his ratios are so poor that he is a fantasy liability at this time.Source: MLB.com
Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Kyle Harrison Allows Four Runs in Win
Kyle Harrison allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts across five innings as he picked up the win against Triple-A Rochester. Harrison had mixed results in this outing, as he served up two homers in the bottom of the first inning for three runs. He was able to throw four innings of one-run ball after, as he heavily relied on his fastball again. He racked up seven whiffs on 24 swings on the pitch, and only two whiffs on 19 swings on his three secondary offerings. Since joining Triple-A Worcester, the 23-year-old has made three starts and has a 7.62 ERA, 1.92 WHIP, and a 10:5 K:BB in 13 innings.Source: MiLB.com
Boston Red Sox left-handed pitcher Robert Suarez Picks Up Save No. 26 Tuesday
Robert Suarez looked sharp as he picked up his 26th save of the season in Tuesday's 1-0 win over the Diamondbacks. Suarez came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by one and shut the door with a 1-2-3 performance, including a strikeout. The 34-year-old has not been as sharp as he was in his breakout 2024 season, but he has converted all but three save opportunities with a 3.72 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP, and a 9.54 K/9 rate in 38 2/3 innings of work. He has allowed much harder contact this season than last season, but he should continue to get plenty of opportunities to provide fantasy value.Source: MLB.com
San Diego Padres closer Chris Bassitt Ready For Relief Role If Need Be
Chris Bassitt said after Tuesday's 6-1 win over the White Sox that he would be ready to pitch out of the bullpen leading into the All-Star break if need be, per MLB.com's
Keegan Matheson. Bassitt only threw 78 pitches in Tuesday's rain-shortened game. The 36-year-old said, "If a lot of [bullpen] guys are down, I can be up... My only goal I have is to win a World Series." The Blue Jays have won 10 games in a row and are now in first place in the American League East. Bassitt has been a serviceable fantasy starter once again this season, going 9-4 with a 4.16 ERA, a 1.36 WHIP, and an 8.75 K/9 rate in 19 starts and 106 IP. Fantasy managers may want to leave him in their lineup in the event that he does make a spot relief appearance in the coming days.Source: Keegan Matheson - X.com
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Andrew Painter Coughs Up Five Runs
Andrew Painter allowed five runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out three in 5.1 innings against Triple-A Syracuse. The 6'7" right-hander allowed a good amount of hard contact with an average exit velocity of 93.9 MPH. Painter has struggled to limit damage recently, as he has now allowed nine runs across 9.1 innings so far through two starts in July. He still owns a solid 26.3 percent strikeout rate for the year, but that's a decent step down from the gaudy numbers he has previously posted in the minor leagues. While the overall numbers don't look great, Painter is still one of the top arms in the minor leagues. There's a chance we see him up with the big league club late in the season, where his fantasy value will depend on his usage.Source: MiLB.com
Philadelphia Phillies pitching prospect Cal Raleigh Continues Historic Homer Pace Tuesday
Cal Raleigh continued his torrid power run in Tuesday's 10-3 loss to the Yankees. Raleigh went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk. The 28-year-old clobbered an eighth-inning Geoff Hartlieb pitch into the second deck of right field for his 36th long ball of the season. With the blast, Raleigh passed Ken Griffey Jr. as the franchise record holder for the most HR before the All-Star break. Raleigh has been one of fantasy's top hitters in the first half, slashing .268/.383/.646 with 76 RBI and nine stolen bases in 392 plate appearances. He now leads baseball in HR and is second in RBI, while also leading his position in stolen bases.Source: Bill Ladson - MLB.com
Seattle Mariners catcher Jacob Wilson Exits Early On Tuesday With Left Hand Contusion
Jacob Wilson (hand) exited Tuesday's game against the Braves in the first inning with a left hand contusion, per the Athletic's David O'Brien. Wilson was hit by a Didier Fuentes pitch in his first at-bat and was replaced immediately by Max Schuemann. Fantasy managers should wait until after the game for more information. This is another bit of unfortunate injury luck for the 23-year-old, who dealt with several nagging injuries through June. His performance when he has been in the lineup has been outstanding, with a .335/.379/.468 slash line, nine home runs, 42 RBI, and five stolen bases in 357 plate appearances. He earned a starting position for the American League All-Star team and has been a fantasy All-Star in the first half.Source: David O'Brien - X.com
