14 mins agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Mitch Keller threw six innings of one-run ball in Saturday's 8-1 victory over the Blue Jays. The righty allowed just five hits and a walk while striking out eight. The outing marked his fifth straight quality start, going 5-0 with a 1.34 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and a 16.7% K-BB% over that stretch. The former second-round draft pick is having a solid season overall as well, going 7-3 with a 3.42 ERA (3.47 FIP), 1.22 WHIP, and a 66:20 K:BB over 12 starts (73 2/3 IP). 28 mins agoAtlanta Braves designated hitter Marcell Ozuna went 2-for-5 with four RBI in Saturday's 11-9 loss to the Athletics. The home run was his 17th of the season, most in the National League, and the RBI gave him a total of 53, good for second-most in all of baseball. Ozuna began the year hot and has yet to cool off, even hitting safely in 23 of his last 25 games. For the season, the 2x All-Star is slashing .313/.388/.611 with a .426 wOBA and 178 wRC+. Hopefully the 33-year-old can keep it up for the rest of the campaign.Source: ESPN
44 mins agoAtlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run in Saturday's 11-9 loss to the Athletics. The 2x All-Star also walked once, scored once, and collected two RBI in the contest. After a poor 31-game start that left his slashline at .195/.319/.363 with three home runs, the slugger has picked up the pace, going 28-for-95 (.295) with six home runs over his last 25 games and raising his season-long slashline to a more respectable .240/.328/.447. Fantasy managers may find some solace in the fact that the slugger started off 2023 slowly as well, but from June 1 through the end of the season, he hit .309 with 37 home runs, 97 RBI, and 83 runs scored.Source: ESPN
1 hour agoTexas Rangers starting pitcher Michael Lorenzen went six-and-a-third innings in Saturday's 7-0 victory over the Marlins, allowing zero runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven on his way to picking up the win. The outing was Lorenzen's fourth straight quality start, pitching to a 1.05 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and a 21:12 K:BB in 25 2/3 IP during this stretch. The righty has been mostly good aside from two outings since coming off the IL, going 3-3 while posting a 2.96 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and a 44:26 K:BB on the season. The 2023 All-Star will get the Giants at home in his next start next Saturday.Source: ESPN

He later followed up his home run with a two-run double in the top sixth, giving him four RBI for the day. Rooker extended his on-base streak to 12 games. Overall, Rooker is slashing .283/.364/.561 with 12 home runs, 39 RBI, 25 runs, and two stolen bases over 47 games in 2024.Source: MLB

Mountcastle swatted two-run home runs in the first and fourth innings, finishing the day with four RBI and three runs scored. The 27-year-old has logged a hit in eight of his last nine games, including 11 hits in his previous 26 at-bats. Mountcastle is slashing .293/.333/.505 with eight homers, 24 RBI, and 31 runs over 51 games this season. Batting cleanup in the potent Orioles lineup makes Mountcastle a must-start.Source: Yahoo.com
10 hours agoOakland A's outfielder Miguel Andujar had his third multi-hit game this week on Saturday, going 4-for-5 with a homer and four RBI in an 11-9 win at the Atlanta Braves. Andujar hit a three-run blast off Braves hurler Chris Sale in the second inning and added a game-clinching RBI single in the eighth. He's been at a blistering .448/.433/.724 pace with 12 RBI in his first seven games with Oakland. He's unlikely to maintain the run but is worth consideration in AL-only or deeper fantasy leagues.Source: ESPN.com

He blasted a two-run shot off Randy Vasquez in the bottom of the first inning to give the Royals a 2-1 lead. The home run traveled 383 feet with an exit velocity of 109 mph. The 26-year-old is starting to heat up at the plate and has homered in two of his last three games. Overall, Pasquantino is slashing .263/.317/.434 with seven home runs, 15 doubles, a triple, 39 RBI, and 27 runs over 56 games in 2024. Fantasy managers should continue to start Pasquantino while he's wielding a hot bat.Source: MLB

11 hours agoThe Los Angeles Angels optioned left-hander Reid Detmers to Triple-A Salt Lake following Saturday's 9-0 loss to the Seattle Mariners. Detmers allowed five runs on four hits and four walks while striking out three across 3 2/3 innings in Saturday's loss to Seattle. Most of the damage to Detmers came off a grand slam to Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford. The 24-year-old has struggled this season, posting a 6.14 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and 70 strikeouts over 63 innings. He has allowed at least five runs in five of his last seven starts. Detmers will look to get back on track in Triple-A and is mainly a stash in deep-league formats.Source: Los Angeles Angels
11 hours agoChicago White Sox starter Garrett Crochet recorded his eighth quality start in a no-decision in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers in 10 innings. Crochet allowed just one earned run and struck out eight while allowing only one walk over his six innings. The big lefty continues to be a must-start regardless of format, as he has a 5-5 record with a 3.49 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP that is fifth-best in baseball. Crochet's next start might be more challenging, considering he faces the Red Sox at hitter-friendly Guaranteed Rate Field on Friday. Despite the tough matchup, fantasy managers should continue to roll with Crochet in all league formats. Source: ESPN.com
11 hours agoBoston Red Sox infielder Vaughn Grissom (hamstring) was diagnosed with a mild right hamstring strain after being removed in Saturday's game against the Detroit Tigers. According to Red Sox manager Alex Cora, Grissom is probably going on the injured list. The 23-year-old grabbed his right hamstring running to first base during a groundout. It's not the same hamstring that caused Grissom to miss all of April. He is hitting .148 (12-for-81) with three RBI over 23 games in 2024. Fantasy managers in deep leagues with IL spots can hold onto Grissom for now. David Hamilton should have an increase in at-bats with Grissom sidelined and is a speculative addition in deep leagues after swiping nine bags over 33 games in 2024.Source: Gabrielle Starr
11 hours agoAtlanta Braves left-hander Chris Sale's 2024 comeback story had its worst chapter on Saturday when the Braves hurler was tagged for nine hits and eight earned runs over four innings in the 11-9 defeat to the Oakland A's. Sale came into the start with a 2.12 ERA but left with an ERA of 3.06 despite taking a no-decision. Sale struck out four and walked one but gave up homers to Miguel Andujar and Brent Rooker. Expect Sale, who is 8-1 with a still-stellar 0.95 WHIP with 82 strikeouts over 67 2/3 innings, to rebound when he faces the Nationals in his next start scheduled for Friday.Source: CBSSports.com
11 hours agoBoston Red Sox infielder Enmanuel Valdez went 3-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI, and an additional run scored in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Detroit Tigers. He blasted a solo shot off Reese Olson in the bottom second inning to the tie game 1-1. His homer traveled 399 feet with an exit velocity of 106.4 mph. He followed up that homer with a two-run blast off Olson again in the bottom of the sixth frame. Valdez was recalled from Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday to replace Tyler O'Neill (knee), who was placed on the 10-day injured list. The 25-year-old is hitting .179 (17-for-95) with four home runs and 14 RBI over 31 games in 2024. Fantasy managers in deep-league or AL-Only formats looking for outfield help can consider adding Valdez to their rosters.Source: MLB
11 hours agoOakland A's reliever Dany Jimenez pitched a scoreless ninth inning to record his first save of the season in the A's 11-9 win at the Atlanta Braves on Saturday. Jimenez allowed one hit and one walk yet provided a save as regular closer Mason Miller, who pitched two innings on Thursday, was given an extra day of rest. Miller remains the clearcut stopper for Oakland, but Jimenez, making his first appearance since his return from Triple-A, offers the A's a veteran option that fantasy users should consider if Miller is out for an extended period. Jimenez is 1-1 with a 3.45 ERA with a 1.47 WHIP in 16 appearances this season.Source: ESPN.com
