Crute entered the bout as the underdog as he was ending his year-and-a-half layoff as he stepped away from the sport. In the fight, Crute dominated the first round as he dropped Bellato and had nearly four minutes of control to get a 10-8 round. Sean Strickland suffered a decision loss to Dricus Du Plessis in the main event of UFC 312 for the middleweight title. Strickland and Du Plessis were rematching from their January 2024 fight which Du Plessis won by split decision to become the new champ. In the rematch, Strickland was hesitant on the feet as the champ landed the better shots, while Strickland had his nose broken in the fourth round. Dricus Du Plessis defended his middleweight title with a five-round decision win over Sean Strickland at UFC 312.
