Cedric Mullins Should Resume Baseball Activities Soon
Cedric Mullins (hamstring) is running and should resume baseball activities soon, according to interim manager Tony Mansolino. Mullins landed on the 10-day injured list last Friday with a right-hamstring strain but could return relatively quickly, although it may not come when he's first eligible this Sunday. The 30-year-old left-handed-hitting outfielder really struggled in the month of May, going 15-for-84 (.179) with four home runs, four doubles, 11 RBI, three steals, eight runs scored, three walks and 27 strikeouts in 88 plate appearances. Mullins should at least be involved in a platoon in center field when he comes off the injured list, but with Baltimore's outfield getting healthier, the former 13th-rounder might have to swing the bat better to be in the lineup on a regular basis. He has 10 homers and eight steals through 181 at-bats in 2025.Source: MLB.com - Jake Rill
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Tyler O'Neill to Start Rehab Assignment This Weekend
Tyler O'Neill (shoulder) is scheduled to begin a minor-league rehab assignment this weekend, according to The Baltimore Banner's Andy Kostka. O'Neill is expected to join Triple-A Norfolk as he wraps up his rehab from a left-shoulder impingement. Barring a setback for the oft-injured 29-year-old outfielder, O'Neill could rejoin the big-league roster at some point next week. The Canadian has an enticing power profile after hitting 30-plus home runs for the second time in his career in 2024 with Boston, but he also continues to battle nagging injuries and was slashing just .188/.280/.325 with a career-worst .605 OPS with two homers, 10 RBI and 27 strikeouts in 93 trips to the plate in his first 24 games with the O's before getting injured. O'Neill figures to play regularly when he returns from the IL.Source: The Baltimore Banner - Andy Kostka
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Jordan Westburg Could Return This Weekend
Jordan Westburg (hamstring) was scheduled to play in minor-league rehab games with Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday and Wednesday before the Orioles decide on his next step, according to The Baltimore Banner's Andy Kostka. In four rehab games, Westburg has gone 4-for-15 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored for Norfolk. Although the 26-year-old wasn't exactly tearing the cover off the baseball earlier this year before he got injured, Westburg is expected to return to Baltimore as their regular at third base, possibly this weekend in a series in Sacramento against the Athletics. For the volume alone, Westburg will be valuable as a corner infielder in deep-mixed leagues. He went 20-for-92 (.217) with four homers and six RBI before landing on the IL, but the former first-rounder was a first-time All-Star in 2024, when he slugged 18 homers and drove in 63.Source: The Baltimore Banner - Andy Kostka
Baltimore Orioles infielder Yankees Haven't Decided on Giancarlo Stanton's Next Steps
Giancarlo Stanton (elbows) as he rehabs from tennis elbow in both of his arms. Manager Aaron Boone is hoping to have more concrete plans for Stanton in the next 24 hours. The 35-year-old veteran slugger has been making progress and was taking live at-bats at the team's spring training complex in Tampa last week, but he's not quite ready to come off the injured list to make his 2025 season debut. The next step will likely be to send Stanton on what could be a lengthy minor-league rehab assignment. Even if Stanton doesn't have any setbacks with his elbows once he begins playing in minor-league games, fantasy managers might not get him back before the All-Star break in mid-July. Stanton still has the potential to provide elite power in stretches when healthy, but it's fair to wonder how productive he'll be after such a long layoff.Source: New York Daily News - Gary Phillips
The New York Yankees haven't made a decision on the next steps for outfielder/designated hitter Aaron Nola to be Shut Down Due to Side Stiffness
Aaron Nola (ankle, side) was scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Thursday, but instead he'll be shut down for a day or two, according to manager Rob Thomson. Nola felt some stiffness in his right side, although Thomson said it's "very mild" and the team is being overly cautious. The 32-year-old veteran is currently on the 15-day injured list and is recovering from a sprained right ankle, but now he's dealing with another ailment. It doesn't sound like Nola will be pushed back too far in his rehab, but it's something else to worry about for a normally solid fantasy pitcher that was really struggling before going on the shelf. Nola should be stashed in an IL spot in all fantasy leagues, but so far he's gone 1-7 with a 6.16 ERA and 1.51 WHIP with 52 strikeouts and 16 walks in 49 2/3 frames over his nine starts.Source: Jordan Horrobin
Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Cardinals-Royals Postponed on Wednesday
Noah Cameron on the mound on Wednesday, while being opposed by Cardinals right-hander Miles Mikolas. Fantasy managers should expect the two starting pitchers to be moved back to one of the games of the twin bill on Thursday. You'll also want to remove any other position players from both teams from your starting lineups for Wednesday's action. First base prospect Jac Caglianone was set to start in right field on Wednesday after going 0-for-5 as the designated hitter on Tuesday in his major-league debut. Cags will be looking for his first career hit in Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader.Source: The Athletic - Katie Woo
Wednesday's contest between the Kansas City Royals and St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium has been postponed due to inclement weather, according to The Athletic's Katie Woo. The two teams will now play a doubleheader on Thursday. The Royals were scheduled to go with left-hander Roki Sasaki Plays Catch on Wednesday
Roki Sasaki (shoulder) was seen playing catch at Dodger Stadium ahead of Wednesday's matchup against the New York Mets. Sasaki continues to work his way back from a right shoulder impingement that has kept him sidelined for nearly a month. The right-hander has started a throwing program, but is still multiple weeks away from getting back on the mound. Sasaki figures to need a few rehab starts before being activated off the injured list. The hope is that Sasaki can return in late June or early July.Source: Dodgers Nation
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tommy Edman Absent on Wednesday
Tommy Edman is out of the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the New York Mets. Edman will take a seat for the second straight game. It's unclear why Edman is getting benched for the second straight game, but it doesn't appear to be injury related. Edman did end up going 0-for-2 off the bench on Tuesday. Enrique Hernandez will take over second base and bat ninth versus right-hander Griffin Canning on Wednesday.Source: mlb.com
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder/infielder Will Smith Sitting Out on Wednesday
Will Smith is absent from the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the New York Mets. Smith will now sit out for the second time in this series. He has been struggling lately going 0-for-9 over his last three games, so it makes sense to rest him on Wednesday. In his absence, Dalton Rushing will start behind the plate and bat eighth versus right-hander Griffin Canning. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups ahead of first pitch.Source: mlb.com
Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Jacob Wilson Officially Returns on Wednesday
Jacob Wilson (hip) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Minnesota Twins. Wilson makes his way back to the lineup following a one-game absence due to a neck injury he suffered on Monday. This is great news for fantasy managers as Wilson has been crushing the ball this season. He's slashing .355/.393/.504 with seven home runs and 32 RBI in 58 games. He'll cover shortstop and bat second versus right-hander Zebby Matthews on Wednesday.Source: mlb.com
Athletics shortstop Tim Elko Rejoins Big-League Roster
Tim Elko was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday. Elko was recently optioned to the minors after going 5-for-31 with three homers during his first stint with the team. He'll return to the White Sox roster with Lenyn Sosa (hip) heading to the injured list. Elko has been hitting well in the minors and deserves a fair shot at the MLB level. He figures to see fairly regular playing time. On Wednesday, Elko will cover first base and bat sixth versus right-hander Sawyer Gibson Long.Source: mlb.com
Chicago White Sox first baseman Kerry Carpenter Scratched on Wednesday
Kerry Carpenter (hamstring) has been scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Chicago White Sox. It's unclear when Carpenter suffered the injury, but he has been pulled from the lineup due to hamstring tightness. Hopefully, it's only a day-to-day issue, but hamstring issues often do linger around. The Tigers should give more information on the situation soon. In the meantime, Wenceel Perez will cover right field and bat fifth versus left-hander Jared Shuster on Wednesday.Source: mlb.com
Detroit Tigers outfielder Addison Barger Batting Third on Wednesday
Toronto Blue Jays infielder/outfielder Addison Barger is starting at third base and is batting in the three-hole in Wednesday's game at the Rogers Centre against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies and rookie right-hander read more...
Kumar Rocker Activated and Starting Against Rays
Kumar Rocker (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list, and he is making the start on the road at George M. Steinbrenner Field against the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday. Rocker is the team's No. 2 prospect, but there are several reasons why fantasy manager will want to avoid him in his first game back in the big leagues against Tampa. First, the 25-year-old Vanderbilt product only threw 53 pitches in his final minor-league rehab start, so he's unlikely to go deep in Wednesday's start. It's not like Rocker was looking great before his stint on the IL, going 1-3 with an 8.10 ERA and 1.75 WHIP with 16 K's and five walks in 20 innings over his first five starts. Rocker will be facing a Rays team that currently boasts a .700 OPS, which ranks 17th in baseball. Don't expect another repeat of Rocker's outing against Tampa on April 6 when he allowed a run in five innings.Source: MLB.com
The Texas Rangers activated right-handed pitching prospect Adolis Garcia Back in Rangers Lineup in Seven-Hole
Adolis Garcia is back in the starting lineup on Wednesday against the hosting Tampa Bay Rays and right-hander Shane Baz, starting in right field and batting seventh. Garcia has endured a season-long slump in 2025 and was benched for the last four games for a "mental break." The 32-year-old Cuban slugger enters Wednesday's contest slashing just .211/.258/.372 with a .630 OPS, seven home runs, 27 RBI, 17 runs scored, five stolen bases, 11 walks and 57 strikeouts in 217 plate appearances over 57 games played. He'll return to face a pitcher in Baz with an ERA near 5.00, but fantasy managers might want to keep Garcia benched until he shows some signs of a turnaround. It doesn't help his DFS value that he's in the seven-hole, either. Garcia is hitless in just three career at-bats versus Baz.Source: MLB.com
