Mark Vientos Remains Out on Saturday
Mark Vientos (abdomen) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Vientos will miss his second straight game after being scratched ahead of Friday's contest due to abdominal soreness. It doesn't sound like something that will force Vientos onto the injured list, but he might sit out the weekend. On Saturday, Brett Baty will take over at third base and bat ninth versus right-hander Tony Gonsolin. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly.Source: mlb.com
New York Mets third baseman Miguel Amaya Exits Early on Saturday
Miguel Amaya (undisclosed) was forced to exit early during Saturday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. Amaya was taken out of the contest after attempting to throw out Elly De La Cruz on a steal attempt. There is no official word on the injury yet, but it does sound like an oblique strain. That being said, Amaya is probably headed towards a stint on the injured list. If that happens, Carson Kelly would probably take over as the primary catcher. Also, Moises Ballesteros would probably be recalled and get a chance behind the plate in Chicago. Fantasy managers should check back for another update, but the loss of Amaya would give Kelly a boost in fantasy value.Source: Marquee Sports Network
Chicago Cubs catcher Kyle Finnegan Battling Shoulder Fatigue
Kyle Finnegan (shoulder) could miss some time after blowing a save on Thursday night. Afterwards, Nats' manager Dave Martinez mentioned that Finnegan could miss a little time while he's dealing with shoulder fatigue. The imaging on Finnegan came back clean, so it doesn't sound like the right-hander is dealing with anything significant. The Nats are planning on shutting him down for a little bit until he feels better. The expectation is that Jorge Lopez is going to take over as the closer in Washington until Finnegan is back in the mix. Lopez could be worth a look in the short term while Finnegan is out.Source: Mark Zuckerman
Washington Nationals relief pitcher Casey Mize Activated, Starting on Saturday
Casey Mize (hamstring) has been activated from the 15-day injured list on Saturday. Mize will make his way back to the mound after landing on the injured list due to a hamstring strain. Before going down, Mize posted a 2.53 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 35/9 K/BB ratio across seven starts. The right-hander is hopeful to pick up where he left off against the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday. Mize has pitched well enough this season to warrant being rostered in most fantasy formats. In a corresponding move, outfielder Akil Baddoo has been optioned to Triple-A Toledo.Source: Tigers PR
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Alex Bregman to Miss Significant Time
Alex Bregman (quad) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday. Bregman suffered a quad injury while running the bases during Friday's game. Afterwards, Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that Bregman is going to miss significant time with a quad strain. The injury is similar to the quad strain Bregman suffered in 2021 that caused him to miss 50 games. That being said, Bregman could very well be out until close to the All-Star break. In a corresponding move, top prospect Marcelo Mayer has been recalled from Triple-A. Mayer is viewed as one of the best prospects in baseball and should be an immediate impact player in Boston.Source: Fox Sports
Boston Red Sox infielder Michael King Scratched with Shoulder Stiffness
Michael King (shoulder) has been scratched from his start on Saturday evening against the Atlanta Braves due to right shoulder stiffness. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as the right-hander could be in danger of spending time on the injured list, given the severity of the injury. Instead, Sean Reynolds will get the starting nod this evening. Through his first 55 2/3 innings of work this season, King has posted a strong 2.59 ERA with a stellar 1.02 WHIP. Across this stretch, King has struck out 64 batters and served up just 17 free passes. Fantasy managers should expect Reynolds to serve as an opener in this contest, as he has never logged more than three innings in an appearance this season. He enters this game with a high 6.43 ERA and should not be targeted in any DFS competitions.Source: San Diego Padres

Jake Fraley Begins Rehab Assignment
Jake Fraley (calf) is set to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Saturday. Fraley has been held out of action due to a calf injury. Fantasy managers should monitor his status as he may only need a few games with Triple-A before being cleared to return from the 10-day injured list. Prior to the injury, the 29-year-old was having a slow start to the season, posting a .205/.319/.359 slash line with three doubles, three home runs, and three stolen bases. Under the hood, Fraley has generated a low .316 xwOBA, .232 xBA, and a .359 xSLG, which are all well below the average marks of qualified hitters. When he does return to the majors, fantasy managers should expect Fraley to compete for opportunities in left field.Source: Charlie Goldsmith
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Yainer Diaz Not Starting on Saturday
Yainer Diaz is not in the starting nine on Saturday when they continue a series against the Seattle Mariners. Diaz has started each of the previous three contests. Over this stretch, the backstop has held a .273/.429/.273 line with a 5:2 K:BB. Since the start of May, Diaz has begun to turn the corner following his slow start, holding a .273/.318/.425 slash line with three doubles, three home runs, and a 16:3 K:BB. Fantasy managers should expect the 26-year-old to return to the starting nine on Sunday. This afternoon, the Astros will give the starting nod to switch-hitter Victor Caratini, who will bat in the five-hole. However, he is best left out of your DFS lineups, facing Seattle right-hander Bryan Woo, who enters this game holding a 2.65 ERA.Source: MLB.com
Houston Astros catcher Edgar Quero Not in Saturday's Lineup
Edgar Quero is not in Saturday's lineup when they continue a series against the Texas Rangers. Quero got the starting nod in the series opener on Friday evening and went 0-for-4 at the dish. As a result, Matt Thaiss will enter the starting lineup and bat in the seven-hole. Quero has been in a bit of a slump at the plate, as he has gone just 7-for-44 over his last 13 contests. During this stretch, the No. 58-ranked prospect in the sport did not tally an extra-base hit. However, over his first 16 games in the majors, Quero enjoyed a hot start, holding a .340/.446/.404 line with three doubles. Fantasy managers should expect Quero to return to the starting nine on Sunday. This afternoon, Thaiss is best to fade in DFS facing Jack Leiter.Source: MLB.com
Chicago White Sox catcher Logan Gilbert May Need Multiple Rehab Outings
Logan Gilbert (elbow) completed a simulated game on Friday. However, the right-hander is expected to require multiple rehab appearances before being cleared to return from the 15-day injured list. The right-hander has been sidelined with a right elbow flexor strain since late April. Given his current progress, fantasy managers should expect the right-hander to remain sidelined for at least a few more weeks. Before his injury, the 28-year-old was enjoying an impressive start to the season. Through his first 30 1/3 innings of work, the right-hander held a strong 2.37 ERA with a 0.79 WHIP. He tallied 44 punchouts and held a stellar 5.1% walk rate. When he returns, Gilbert should be viewed as a must-start high-end SP1. While he remains sidelined, Emerson Hancock and Logan Evans should remain in the starting rotation.Source: Daniel Kramer
Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Carson Kelly Sitting on Saturday
Carson Kelly will take a seat during Saturday's contest against the Cincinnati Reds. The veteran backstop has typically alternated starts with Miguel Amaya and will follow suit again on Saturday. During Friday's game, Kelly went 1-for-4 at the plate with a walk. Over his last six games, the 30-year-old has held a .240/.321/.280 line with one double. Through his first 31 games on the Northside, Kelly has been one of the most productive catchers in the sport, boasting a .287/.416/.574 line with eight long balls. Under the hood, Kelly has generated a .390 xwOBA, which places him in the 89th percentile among qualified hitters. This afternoon, Amaya will be behind the dish and bat in the seven-hole. He is best to fade in DFS facing Cincinnati left-hander Andrew Abbott, who has held a strong 1.80 ERA.Source: MLB.com
Chicago Cubs catcher Amed Rosario Starting on Saturday
Amed Rosario (leg) is starting at third base during Saturday's contest against the San Francisco Giants. Rosario has been held out of the starting lineup since May 15. However, he did make an appearance during Thursday's game. This afternoon, he will bat in the two-hole. Before his injury, Rosario was enjoying a productive stretch at the plate, posting a .361/.410/.500 slash line with two doubles, one home run, and nine RBI. Through 26 games this season, the 29-year-old has posted a .305/.337/.439 line with two long balls and a stolen base. Given his strong start to the season, fantasy managers should expect Rosario to continue to see close to an everyday role in the Washington starting nine. This afternoon, he is slated to face San Francisco lefty Kyle Harrison.Source: Mark Zuckerman
Washington Nationals infielder/outfielder Ramon Laureano Placed on 10-Day Injured List
Ramon Laureano (ankle) on the 10-day injured list with a left ankle sprain. The 30-year-old sustained this injury during Tuesday's contest. He was viewed day-to-day throughout the week, but the Orioles will instead opt to have him shift to the injured list. Before his injury, Laureano was swinging a hot bat, posting a .414/.469/.690 slash line with two doubles, two home runs, and one stolen base over his last nine contests. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progress as the 30-year-old could be in danger of missing longer than the minimum stay. While he remains sidelined, this should open up opportunities in left field for Heston Kjerstad, Dylan Carlson, and Terrin Vavra. Laureano is worth holding in deeper AL-only leagues as he should have close to an everyday role when he returns.Source: Baltimore Orioles
The Baltimore Orioles have placed outfielder Rhett Lowder Shut Down with Oblique Strain
Rhett Lowder (oblique) is expected to be shut down for a few weeks. Lowder exited his last rehab outing with an oblique strain. According to Charlie Goldsmith of FOX19, the right-hander will not be able to "do much" for a few weeks. After this period, he will return to Arizona to restart the buildup process. The 23-year-old was initially recovering from a forearm injury but will now face a more extended recovery period with the added oblique strain. The Wake Forest product made his MLB debut last season and performed well in Cincinnati as he logged 30 2/3 innings of work to the tune of a 1.17 ERA with a 1.27 WHIP. Given that Lowder does not have a definitive timetable, fantasy managers should not view him as a potential stash option. When he is cleared to return, he should have a role in the starting rotation.Source: Charlie Goldsmith
