Alex Bregman Undergoing MRI, Out of Game 1 Lineup
Alex Bregman (quadriceps) is out of the lineup for Game 1 of a scheduled doubleheader on Saturday at Fenway Park against the division-rival Baltimore Orioles, and manager Alex Cora said Bregman is undergoing an MRI exam on his injured right quadriceps after leaving Friday's blowout win early in the fifth inning. Nick Sogard is playing third base and batting fifth, while catcher Carlos Narvaez moves into the cleanup spot against Orioles right-hander Zach Eflin. Although there's a possibility that Bregman returns for Game 2 of the twin bill on Saturday, it's probably unlikely, even if his quad injury is just a day-to-day deal. Narvaez has mostly hit out of the eight-hole for Boston this year, but the catcher is hitting .349 (29-for-83) with a .413 on-base percentage, .602 slugging percentage, five homers, six doubles, 13 RBI and 16 runs in 24 games since April 18.
