Marcelo Mayer Headed to Boston
Marcelo Mayer is on his way to Boston to join the major league roster. Mayer is considered the No. 8-ranked prospect in the sport and the No. 2-ranked prospect in the system, only behind outfielder Roman Anthony. The 22-year-old has spent the start of the 2025 campaign with Triple-A Worcester. Through his first 43 games at the Triple-A level, the infielder has posted a strong .271/.347/.471 slash line with five doubles, nine home runs, and two stolen bases. However, over his last 29 games, Mayer has been very productive, boasting a .301/.391/.549 line with seven long balls. While he has primarily seen time at shortstop, Mayer has recently begun to see time at the keystone. Fantasy managers should expect Mayer to see time at both shortstop and second base. However, with Kristian Campbell in the mix to shift over to first base and Alex Bregman (quadriceps) sidelined, Mayer could carve out a full-time role in the infield. As a result, he should be added in all standard 12-team formats.
