Quentin Johnston Looks To Continue His Solid Run In Week 16
Quentin Johnston will look to continue his recent solid run in a Week 16 Thursday Night Football game against the Denver Broncos. Johnston popped up on the injury report earlier this week, but it was simply a clerical error as the wide out has been healthy and practicing in full. Johnston has gone two games in a row with a fantasy WR2 finish and while the Broncos secondary has been excellent this season, "QJ" should see enough targets to have the chance to once again finish in those ranks. He's not a huge upside guy, but he's developed a decent enough floor, especially in games where the Chargers are expected to rely on the passing game.Source: Rotoballer
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey Back At Full Strength For Week 16
Ladd McConkey is back at full strength for a Week 16 Thursday night game against the Denver Broncos. McConkey missed the game in Week 14 with shoulder and knee injuries, but he was able to return in Week 15 and is off the injury report completely this week. In his Week 15 return, he caught five passes for 58 yards and a touchdown and remained the usual first look for quarterback Justin Herbert. McConkey has a tough matchup against a strong Denver secondary, but he's still in the WR2 conversation because of target share and the potential for the Chargers to once again abandon the running game and go with a pass-heavy approach.Source: Rotoballer
Los Angeles Chargers rookie wide receiver Kimani Vidal Too Risky To Start In Fantasy Lineups In Week 16
Kimani Vidal is far too risky to start in a key fantasy matchup like Week 16. The Chargers take on the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football, and the Broncos defense has been tough on opposing running backs all season long. Vidal has shown some flashes in his rookie campaign, but he's still behind Gus Edwards for touches and the Chargers offense has shown lately that they will quickly abandon the running game if it is not working. There's certainly some upside with Vidal, but his floor is very low which makes him far too volatile without the possible payoff for this week's lineups.Source: Rotoballer
Los Angeles Chargers rookie running back Gus Edwards Not Worth Much Fantasy Consideration In Week 16
Gus Edwards is not in the fantasy starter conversation in a Week 16 Thursday Night Football game against the Denver Broncos. Edwards is the top running back on the Chargers depth chart, but he's been horribly inefficient all season which has forced the Chargers to rely more on the passing game since starter J.K. Dobbins (knee) went down with an injury. Last week, Edwards ran the ball eight times for just 23 yards and he has yet to score double digit fantasy points in any game this season. The Broncos defense has stopped top running backs before, so Edwards has a low floor and almost no ceiling. He is best left on the bench in this key fantasy week.Source: Rotoballer
Los Angeles Chargers running back Justin Herbert Ready To Go For Week 16
Justin Herbert has been removed from the injury report for Week 16 and is good to go for a Thursday Night Football game against the division-rival Denver Broncos. Despite an ankle injury that was clearly affecting his play in Week 15 and kept him limited in practice all week until Wednesday, Herbert will go into the game without an injury designation. He's been far less mobile due to the injury, but he still played well in terms of things he could control against Tampa Bay last week. The Broncos defense is tough against opposing quarterbacks, so Herbert's ceiling is limited by both his ankle and his opponent. Still, he'll likely need to lead the offense with his arm since the Bolts backfield hasn't done much of anything in the run game. Herbert is a safe QB2 option with some possible upside in what should be a close game.Source: Rotoballer
Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Hayden Hurst Questionable, Will Dissly Ruled Out
The Los Angeles Chargers have listed tight end Hayden Hurst (hip) as questionable and ruled tight end Will Dissly (shoulder) out for Thursday's game against the Denver Broncos. Hurst has beenread more...
Quentin Johnston Removed From Injury Report After Clerical Error
Quentin Johnston has been removed from the injury report. Johnston was listed as a non-participant on Monday, but Daniel Popper of The Athletic clarified that the Chargers had intended to list offensive lineman Zion Johnson, not Quentin Johnston. As of Tuesday, Johnston remains a full-go in practice and is not dealing with any injury. He'll suit up in Week 16 against the Denver Broncos.Source: Daniel Popper
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Justin Herbert Expected To Play On Thursday
Justin Herbert (ankle) remained a limited participant during Tuesday's practice session. This is now back-to-back limited practice sessions for Herbert with a matchup against the Denver Broncos on Thursday. Herbert has been banged up since suffering an ankle injury in Week 14. Despite that, Herbert played on Sunday and is expected to suit up in Week 16 as well. The 26-year-old clearly isn't 100 percent healthy right now and has a short week against a strong secondary. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect Herbert to be much more than a QB2 for Week 16.Source: Daniel Popper
Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Hayden Hurst Returns To Practice
Hayden Hurst (hip) was designated to return from the injured reserve on Monday. Hurst only missed the minimum of four games after being placed on the injured reserve in late-November. The 31-year-old was able to get through a full practice on Tuesday. That is great news, but it still seems unlikely that Hurst will be able to suit up for Thursday's game against the Denver Broncos. Fellow tight end Will Dissly (shoulder) has missed back-to-back practice sessions and is likely to sit out another week. That being said, Stone Smartt figures to be in line for another start after a five-catch performance on Sunday. He could be an interesting TE2 option for fantasy managers lacking depth at tight end.Source: chargers.com
Los Angeles Chargers tight end Will Dissly Misses Tuesday's Practice
Will Dissly (shoulder) did not participate in practice on Tuesday. This is now back-to-back missed practice sessions for Dissly who missed last week's game with a shoulder injury. At this rate, fantasy managers should expect Dissly to sit out of Thursday's game against the Denver Broncos. Fellow tight end Hayden Hurst (hip) was designated to return from the injured reserve on Monday. Hurst practice in full on Tuesday, which gives him a chance to play on Thursday. Otherwise, Stone Smartt figures to get another start after a five-catch outing on Sunday.Source: chargers.com
Los Angeles Chargers tight end Will Dissly Doesn't Practice On Monday
Will Dissly (shoulder) didn't suit up for Monday's practice session. It's worth noting that this just an estimated practice report, so it doesn't mean too much. Dissly suffered a shoulder injury in Week 14 and was expected to miss a few weeks. That being said, it's not shocking to see him missing practice time. There's a good chance that Dissly sits out in Week 16 considering it's a short week, so he'd need to get ready to play by Thursday. Stone Smartt started in place of Dissly during Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Smartt hauled in five of his six targets for 50 yards in the blowout loss. He could have some TE2 appeal for Week 16 if Dissly misses Thursday's game.Source: chargers.com
Los Angeles Chargers tight end Justin Herbert Limited On Monday
Justin Herbert (ankle) was listed as a limited participant on Monday's estimated injury report. Herbert is dealing with an ankle issue, but was able to play through it during Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He looked fine in the pocket, but the ankle issue clearly limited his running ability considering he had zero carries on Sunday. Nonetheless, Herbert figures to be fine for Thursday's Week 16 matchup against the Denver Broncos. The Chargers might limit Herbert in order to keep him fresh, but he should be out there unless he suffers a setback.Source: chargers.com
Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Quentin Johnston Misses Monday's Practice
Quentin Johnston (ankle) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's estimated injury report. Fantasy managers shouldn't read too much into that because it basically means he didn't go through walkthrough. Johnston suffered an ankle injury during Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That being said, it wouldn't be shocking to see Johnston sit or be limited early in the week. However, the Chargers do have a short week with a matchup against the Denver Broncos on Thursday. The absence of Johnston would mean more targets for Ladd McConkey and Joshua Palmer during Thursday's Week 16 contest.Source: chargers.com
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Chargers Defense Gets Beat Up In Week 15 Blowout
Source: ESPN.com
The Los Angeles Chargers defense got pushed around throughout the game but especially in the second half of a Week 15 loss to the Tampa Bay Bucs. The Bolts recorded one sack, one interception, and one fumble recovery but also allowed 40 points and 502 yards of offense. They came in as a top-12 ranked fantasy defense for the week but put up a disappointing negative four points in standard scoring leagues. They were on the field a bunch, especially in the second half as the Bolts offense forgot how to play football. A quick turnaround for a Thursday Night Football game against the Denver Broncos will make the Chargers defense a risky but upside potential option for Week 16.Cameron Dicker Makes Three Kicks In Week 15 Loss
Cameron Dicker made all three of his kicks in a Week 15 loss to the Tampa Bay Bucs. Dicker made two extra points and his lone field goal attempt from 41 yards out. It was a rough game for the Chargers offense in general, which limited Dicker's opportunities. Despite a quick turnaround to be ready for Week 16 against the Broncos on Thursday Night Football, Dicker should see more chances to kick and put up a better fantasy performance.Source: ESPN.com
