Max Muncy Could Return in a Couple of Weeks
Max Muncy (knee) could rejoin the team in "a couple weeks," manager Dave Roberts said Sunday. Muncy suffered what initially looked like a catastrophic injury to his left knee July 2, but it turned out to be a significant bruise. The 34-year-old was still expected to miss at least six weeks, though it appears he'll be back quicker than that. After a slow start to the season, Muncy had been crushing the ball in the weeks leading up to his placement on the 10-day injured list. Overall, the two-time All-Star has slashed .250/.375/.457 with 13 home runs, 55 RBI, 39 runs scored, and four stolen bases in 315 plate appearances. Tommy Edman has recently gotten most of the work at the hot corner with Muncy out.Source: Fabian Ardaya - The Athletic
Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Nolan Schanuel Exits with Wrist Contusion
Nolan Schanuel (wrist) exited their game against the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday with a left-wrist contusion, the team announced. Schanuel suffered the injury on a hit by pitch in the first inning, and the Angels quickly replaced him with LaMonte Wade Jr. The 24-year-old Schanuel emerged as a mainstay in the Angels' lineup last season and has put together respectable numbers in 2025 despite below-average power. He's hitting .274/.364/.396 with eight homers, 40 RBI, 47 runs scored, and an impressive 47:44 K:BB in 407 plate appearances. Schanuel has never been on the injured list, but if he has to miss more time, Wade would likely fill his spot.Source: Los Angeles Angels
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Zack Short Scratched with Rib Soreness
Zack Short (ribs) was a late scratch for Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners. Short is sitting out with rib soreness resulting from a hit by pitch on Saturday. The Astros are starting Mauricio Dubon at shortstop in place of Short and plugging in Shay Whitcomb at third base. If Short has to miss more time, it would continue a brutal run of injuries for the Astros. Their lineup is down shortstop Jeremy Pena, DH/outfielder Yordan Alvarez, third baseman Isaac Paredes, and outfielder Jake Meyers, among others. The 30-year-old Short has served as good depth over a small sample size, having gone 6-for-23 with a homer, five RBI, and five runs scored since the Astros called him up on July 2.Source: Brian McTaggart - MLB.com
Houston Astros infielder Kyle Bradish Making Rehab Start on Thursday
Kyle Bradish (elbow) has been cleared to make his first rehab start with High-A Aberdeen on Thursday. Bradish threw a two-inning live batting practice session on Saturday. Clearly, that went well enough that the O's have cleared Bradish to begin his rehab assignment. Bradish is working his way back from Tommy John surgery from last year. He's going to need multiple rehab starts to build up his pitch count and stamina. The timetable for Bradish's return is unclear at the moment, but he figures to be back around August. Fantasy managers looking for pitching help might want to stash Bradish on their IL. The right-hander was a stud before the elbow injury, so hopefully he can return to that same form again in 2025.Source: Jake Rill
Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher MacKenzie Gore Receiving Trade Interest
MacKenzie Gore could be on the move ahead of this year's trade deadline. According to Jon Heyman, several teams have called the Nats to see the availability of Gore. New Nats general manager Mike DeBartolo said he prefers to keep the core group together, but is always willing to listen. Gore still has two years of control left, so it seems unlikely that anyone could pry him away unless they overpay. Currently, Gore holds a 3.02 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and a 138/35 K/BB ratio across 19 starts with the Nats this season. He's only 26 years old and earned his first All-Star selection this season. It would certainly need to be a good package for the Nats to let go of Gore right now.Source: Jon Heyman
Washington Nationals starting pitcher Ketel Marte Reinstated From Restricted List
Ketel Marte (personal) was reinstated off the restricted list on Sunday. Marte has been out of the lineup since Friday while away from the team due to a personal matter. He's back now, but remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. In his absence, Blaze Alexander will bat seventh and cover second base versus right-hander Miles Mikolas. In a corresponding move, infielder Sergio Alcantara has been designated for assignment with Marte being activated. Fantasy managers should check back on Monday, but Marte should be back in the mix for that game.Source: Alex Weiner
Updating a previous report, Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Jake Bauers Heads to Injured List
Jake Bauers (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Sunday. Bauers had seen an increase in playing time lately, but is now set to miss a few weeks due to a left shoulder impingement. The Brewers are shorthanded at first base, so Andrew Vaughn figures to see the bulk of the playing time there. In a corresponding move, Tyler Black has been recalled to take over the active spot on the roster. Black figures to play a bench role, so there won't be much fantasy value there. Vaughn is going to benefit the most with Bauers heading to the shelf.Source: Milwaukee Brewers
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Mookie Betts Returning, Hitting Leadoff
Mookie Betts will make his return to the lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Betts sat out on Saturday for rest purposes, but is back in the mix now. He's in the middle of a terrible slump at the plate where he has only 21 hits over his last 30 games. Betts will cover shortstop and bat leadoff for the first time this season on Sunday. The Dodgers are hopeful that shaking things up will help Betts break out of this slump. Fantasy managers should get Betts back in their lineups ahead of first pitch.Source: mlb.com
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Ketel Marte Remains Absent on Sunday
Ketel Marte (personal) remains away from the team ahead of Sunday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Marte has been absent since Friday due to a personal matter. The organization was hopeful he'd return on Sunday, but he'll miss his third straight game. In his absence, Blaze Alexander will cover second base and bat seventh versus right-hander Miles Mikolas on Sunday. Fantasy managers should double check their lineups and get Marte on their bench ahead of first pitchSource: mlb.com

Walker Jenkins Triples in Three-Hit Performance
Walker Jenkins logged his second consecutive three-hit game on Saturday, going 3-for-5 with a triple and a run scored for Double-A Wichita. The Twins' top-ranked prospect (MLB No. 13) has shown well since returning to Double-A, hitting .302 with five doubles, a triple, and two home runs in 23 games for the Wind Surge. Equally as impressive, the 20-year-old has walked just as many times as he's struck out (19), good for a 17.6 percent rate for each stat. The former fifth-overall draft pick could see some time at Triple-A later this year in preparation for a major league debut sometime in 2026, and the left-handed slugger should eventually be a multi-category fantasy producer.Source: MiLB.com
Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Cade Povich to Make Another Rehab Start
Cade Povich (hip) will make another Triple-A rehab start either Thursday or Friday, according to Jake Rill of MLB.com. Povich looked good in his most recent rehab start on Saturday, as he tossed three innings (62 pitches) of one-run ball with six strikeouts. The 25-year-old has been on the 15-day injured list with hip inflammation since June 16, but he's on track to come off the shelf later this month or in early August. While Povich has racked up 68 strikeouts against 23 walks in 64 2/3 innings with the Orioles this season, he has still stumbled to a 5.15 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP.Source: Jake Rill - MLB.com
Baltimore Orioles left-hander Tyler Black Recalled from Triple-A Nashville
Tyler Black from Triple-A Nashville with Jake Bauers hitting the 10-day injured list due to a left shoulder impingement. The 24-year-old Black got a late start to the season after undergoing surgery for a right hamate fracture in March, finally returning to Triple-A Nashville on June 11. Through 24 games there, the left-handed hitter took a while to get rolling, slashing .191/.301/.303 in all, but was riding a six-game hit streak before his call-up, going 9-for-24 (.375) with a double, a pair of home runs, and two stolen bases. The 6-foot-1 slugger made his major league debut in 2024, slashing .204/.316/.245 with zero home runs and three steals in 18 games for the Brewers. Hopefully this time he'll see a bit more success as he offers a little bit of power and speed, but he can be left to the waiver wire in most fantasy leagues for now.Source: Milwaukee Brewers
The Milwaukee Brewers have recalled first baseman Zach Eflin Nearing Return
Zach Eflin (back) had a successful rehab start in the rookie-level Florida Complex League on Friday. While Eflin allowed five unearned runs over four innings and 68 pitches, he came out of the start feeling "great" and confident about rejoining the Orioles' rotation soon. Eflin hasn't pitched in the majors since June 28 because of discomfort in his lower back. The team could reinstate him from the 15-day injured list during an upcoming series against Cleveland that runs from Monday to Thursday, according to Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com. The 31-year-old has slumped to a 5.95 ERA with a 1.44 WHIP and 42:11 K:BB over 62 innings, but he could draw interest from starter-needy teams around the July 31 trade deadline.Source: Roch Kubatko - MASNSports.com
Baltimore Orioles right-hander Derek Hill Scratched with Finger injury
Derek Hill (finger) is dealing with a minor finger injury and won't start Sunday's game against the Kansas City Royals, but he's available off the bench. The Marlins will start Dane Myers in center field for the fourth straight game. Hill hasn't played since July 12, and he's hitting a meager .211/.276/.322 line with two home runs, seven RBI, and six stolen bases in 100 plate appearances.Source: Nate Karzmer - Fish on First
