Packers Say They Won't Trade Aaron Rodgers
4 years agoGreen Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said on Thursday night about that possibility of trading quarterback Aaron Rodgers: "No, we're not going to trade Aaron Rodgers." "He's our quarterback. He's our leader. We've been working through this for a little while now. I just think it might take some time. But he's the guy that makes this thing go." Things between Rodgers and the organization started to sour when the team traded up in the first round to take quarterback Jordan Love in last year's draft, and a report surfaced on Thursday that Rodgers told members of the Packers that he doesn't want to return in 2021. Green Bay also wanted Rodgers to restructure his contract to help with the salary cap situation, but Rodgers instead wanted a new contract extension. Rodgers reportedly would be interested in playing for the San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos or Las Vegas Raiders, but as of right now, the Packers have no plans to deal him. The 37-year-old is the reigning NFL MVP and while he's nearing the end of his career, he's proved he can continue to play at a really high level. Stay tuned.
