Major League Baseball said that the Feb. 28 deadline to get a new collective bargaining deal done is a real deadline. If there's no deal in place by that date, regular season games would be canceled and player pay would be lost. "When you're offering bear traps, it's hard to attract bears," player agent Scott Boras said. The league also made a proposal for a $640,000 minimum salary this year, one that would increase by $10,000 in each of the four subsequent seasons. The Players Association proposed a minimum of $775,000 for the 2022 season on Tuesday, with a $30,000 raise in each of the following four seasons. The two sides remain far apart on other issues, including the competitive-balance tax, a figure for a new pre-arbitration bonus pool, a plan to fight service-time manipulation and the size of a lottery-style draft.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
