Mitch Haniger Named To First All-Star Team
6 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger has been named as a reserve for the 2018 All-Star team, per mlb.com. Haniger came into the season as a breakout candidate in fantasy and he has delivered on that potential, hitting .271 with 17 home runs and 62 runs batted in heading into this week's action. Haniger flashed some of that potential in 2017 but an oblique injury completely derailed his season. He has been one of the most consistent hitters in the Mariners lineup in 2018 and is slashing .304/.394/.446 over his last 56 at-bats. Haniger also has been one of the team's best hitters at home this season, posting a .280/.372/.518 line through 46 games at Safeco Field with seven doubles, 10 home runs and 31 runs batted in. Haniger will look to finish up the first half strong beginning Tuesday when the Mariners will travel to open up a series with the Angels in Anaheim.
