Miles Mikolas To Miss Start Of Season
5 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas (elbow) will miss the start of the regular season because of a flexor-tendon issue in his right elbow, according to manager Mike Shildt. Mikolas will receive a platelet-rich plasma injection and be re-evaluated in three to four weeks. The right-hander had a PRP injection after last season ended as well. The 31-year-old was excellent in 2018 in his return from Japan, going 18-4 with a 2.83 ERA as an All-Star, but he struggled last season. He was 9-14 with a 4.16 ERA in 32 regular season starts. Because of his injury, Carlos Martinez, Kwang-Hyun Kim, Alex Reyes and Daniel Poncedeleon will battle for the No. 5 rotation spot. Mikolas can probably be left to the waiver wire in mixed leagues to begin the season.
