Melvin Gordon III Almost Hits Century Mark In Season Finale
4 years agoDenver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon III took advantage of a nice matchup in the Week 17 regular season finale against the division-rival Raiders on Sunday. Gordon finished with a season-high 26 carries for 93 yards and a touchdown on the ground and added four receptions on six targets for 17 yards through the air. He predictably saw the lion's share of backfield work with Phillip Lindsay on Injured Reserve. Even though Gordon shared carries with Lindsay throughout the season, he was the clearly the better back and finished with 1,054 yards (986 rushing, 158 receiving) and 10 total touchdowns in his first year with the Broncos. The 27-year-old has earned a bigger role heading into 2021, and if quarterback Drew Lock can improve next season, Gordon could be even more appealing to fantasy managers as a solid RB2.
