Max Scherzer Set for Friday Rehab Start
Max Scherzer (thumb) is cleared for his first rehab start this Friday with Triple-A Buffalo. The 40-year-old has been bothered by thumb inflammation that he picked up in late March, but his most recent bullpen session was presumably successful. Nicholson-Smith noted that Scherzer will likely toss around 60-65 pitches in the matchup for the Bisons. It's fantastic news for the veteran, and a step in the right direction as he works his way back to Toronto's rotation from an ailing thumb. He figures to need at least one additional rehab outing before rejoining the big-league roster.
