Seattle Kraken center Matty Beniers won the Calder Trophy at the NHL awards ceremony in Nashville Monday night. The 20-year-old already made his NHL debut during the 2021-22 campaign, but he was still eligible to be voted the best rookie of the 2022-23 season and the young Kraken star won the award ahead of Buffalo's Owen Power and Edmonton's Stuart Skinner. Beniers led all first-year players with 24 goals and 57 points. The talented centerman also headlined the All-Rookie Team with Power and Skinner, with Ottawa's Jake Sanderson, Dallas' Wyatt Johnston, and Arizona's Matias Maccelli completing the lineup.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
