Matt Chapman Hit In Head By Pitch
5 years agoOakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman (head) left the game on Wednesday after being hit in the head by a pitch from Royals pitcher Jakob Junis. The All-Star already has a career-high 30 home runs and 74 RBI, so losing him for any extended time would be a big blow to the A's and fantasy owners down the stretch. Expect him to be put through the league's concussion protocol before returning to the lineup. The were also set to call up third base prospect Sheldon Neuse before Chapman's injury, so he could fill in at the hot corner if Chapman misses any time. Chad Pinder would be another option to see playing time. Check back for more updates on Chapman's status heading into Thursday.
