St. Louis Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter had a strong game on Wednesday, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI. Carpenter has had a rough start to the season and was even benched for the entire weekend series against the Padres. The point was for him to work on his swing, but he came back Tuesday with an 0-for-4, two strikeout performance. He was dropped to the seventh spot in the lineup on Wednesday, which may have been enough to light a fire under him. Even with the three hit day, he's still hitting just .160 with a .600 OPS. He'll need a few more games like this one if he wants to stick around as a starter in a rather deep St. Louis lineup.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
