Matt Adams Strains Left Oblique
6 years agoWashington Nationals first baseman Matt Adams exited Monday's game with a left oblique strain. Manager Davey Martinez is "a little concerned." Obliques are tricky and an IL stint for Adams is quite possible. That would open up more playing time for a hot Howie Kendrick, who would become worth a temporary pickup in all leagues if he starts playing every day. Adams himself has hit just .254/.283/.474 this season with a whopping 39 strikeouts in 120 plate appearances and just five walks, leaving him mostly an NL-only asset. He won't be worth a stash if indeed he requires an IL trip.
