Masataka Yoshida Out Against A Lefty
2 years agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Masataka Yoshida is not in the starting lineup on Sunday against left-hander Matthew Boyd and the Detroit Tigers. It will be Yoshida's first game off of his first big-league season. The 29-year-old Japanese left-handed slugger has gotten off to a rather slow start in his first year with the Red Sox, going 7-for-30 (.233) with a double, home run, six RBI, eight runs scored and two stolen bases, but he's walked six times and struck out only twice. Yoshida should be a strong source of on-base percentage when all is said and done in 2023. With Yoshida sitting, Rob Refsnyder is playing left field and batting leadoff on Sunday. Refsnyder has little power to speak of (12 homers in eight major-league seasons), but he'll have some DFS sleeper appeal in the leadoff spot.
