Marc Gasol 2019 Player Outlook
5 years agoToronto Raptors center Marc Gasol just keeps going. After playing deep into the postseason and eventually picking up his first NBA championship, the veteran big man suited up for his native country Spain at the World Cup in China (where he won the Gold). On the wrong side of 30, Gasol put up 9.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 0.9 steals, 0.9 blocks and added 0.9 makes from three in 26 games after the trade deadline in a Raptors uniform. Splitting time in the middle with Serge Ibaka will again be on the menu pending matchups in Toronto this season. With Kawhi Leonard with the Clippers and the Ibaka/Gasol lineups showing some success in this past postseason, there is no reason why the Spaniard cannot maintain his numbers that he did in Toronto, with even a slight uptick overall. Keep in mind, Gasol is nearly 35 and after a long postseason run, the World Cup this offseason and a history of injuries, treading lightly on the big man is a must.
