Mac Jones Making Progress, Brian Hoyer In Line To Start
2 years agoNew England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said that quarterback Mac Jones (ankle) has made a lot of progress in the last 24 to 48 hours, and the team is taking it day-to-day. Veteran QB Brian Hoyer will get the start in Week 4 against the Green Bay Packers in the likely event that Jones can't go. Jones suffered a severe left high-ankle sprain in the Week 3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, so he's likely to miss multiple games at the very least. The 36-year-old Hoyer has plenty of familiarity with Belichick's offense, but he will be a downgrade for all of New England's offensive skill players for however long Jones is sidelined. The Packers defense/special teams will be a popular starting option this week.
