Lions Would Have Taken Jahmyr Gibbs At No. 6
2 years agoThe Detroit Lions would have been comfortable drafting running back Jahmyr Gibbs at No. 6 overall, their original spot in the first round of the NFL draft on Thursday night, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Instead, the Lions traded back with the Arizona Cardinals to add more draft capital and got Gibbs at No. 12 overall instead. The talented and explosive running back has the potential to be a difference-maker in offensive coordinator Ben Johnson's offense immediately, but things could get complicated as far as tough distribution if the Lions wind up entering the 2023 season with all three of Gibbs, D'Andre Swift and David Montgomery in their backfield. The Lions are already receiving trade calls on Swift.
