FBS Coaches Unanimously Vote to Expand Redshirt Eligibility to Nine Games
According to David Ubben of The Athletic, the FBS head coaches unanimously voted to expand redshirt eligibility from four games to nine. While that does not make the expansion official, it is a recommendation that will be put forth to the Division I committees. Redshirt eligibility was expanded to four games ahead of the 2018-19 college football season, and coaches are pushing for an even more lenient rule just a relatively short time after. If this passes, a player can play up to nine contests without losing a year of collegiate eligibility. College football has seen major changes over the last few years, and it looks like change will continue to take place in the next few years. This is just another possibility.
