Khalil Herbert Should Have More Consistent Workload
2 years agoThe Chicago Bears are going to need to lean on their running game while they work through issues with their passing attack, so running back Khalil Herbert will have ample opportunity for a consistent workload no matter how much time David Montgomery (ankle, knee) may miss. When Montgomery was injured in 2021, Herbert averaged 19.5 carries and over 70 rushing yards per game from Weeks 5-8. And when Montgomery was injured in the Week 3 win over the Houston Texans, Herbert ran all over Houston for 157 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. He leads all RBs in rushing yards over expectation per attempt, according to Next Gen Stats. Even though we don't know yet if Montgomery will miss any time, Herbert is absolutely worth a waiver-wire pickup this week if you're in need of RB depth.
