Kevin Kiermaier Out With Wrist Issue
2 years agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier (wrist) is not in the team's starting lineup on Friday against the Minnesota Twins. Kiermaier will get a day of rest after leaving Thursday's contest early against the Houston Astros after he was hit in the left wrist by a pitch. Thankfully, X-rays came back negative, so Kiermaier is just day-to-day and could be back in the lineup on Saturday. The 33-year-old left-handed hitter is having a solid year at the plate so far with a .296 average (48-for-162) with 10 doubles, four triples, four home runs, 16 RBI and five stolen bases in 180 plate appearances, but he's only picked up two hits in 18 at-bats (.111 average) in eight games since the calendar flipped to July. Daulton Varsho is starting in center field on Friday and is batting sixth against Twins right-hander Sonny Gray.
