Jose Altuve Takes Batting Practice Wednesday
6 years agoHouston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (hamstring) did baseball drills on the field and took batting practice on Wednesday with teammates. He'll head on a minor league rehab assignment soon. Altuve has been out since May 11 with a strained left hamstring but has been working out pain-free since Monday. He'll go to either Triple-A Round Rock or Double-A Corpus Christi to rehab. Barring any setbacks when he starts playing in rehab games, Altuve could return to Houston sometime next week. He's hitting .243/.329/.472 with nine home runs, 21 runs, 21 RBI and one steal on the season. Aledmys Diaz will go back to a utility role when Altuve is ready to return.
