Jordan Westburg Avoids Broken Hand
1 year agoBaltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that rookie shortstop Jordan Westburg (hand) is sore but is doing well. X-rays came back negative for any breaks in his left hand, and he was able to take batting practice on Monday despite not being included in the starting lineup against the New York Yankees. The 24-year-old rookie was hit by a pitch in his left hand in the Sunday's series finale against the Minnesota Twins, but it looks like he'll be able to avoid an injured-list stint heading into next week's All-Star break. The club's No. 3 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, has yet to go deep or steal a base in his first 19 MLB at-bats, and he's gone 5-for-19 (.263) with three RBI and two runs scored in only six games played after debuting on June 26.
