Jonny DeLuca Making Big-League Debut Wednesday
2 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers rookie outfielder Jonny DeLuca is making his major-league debut on Wednesday, starting in center field and batting eighth in the lineup against Cincinnati Reds left-hander Brandon Williamson. The Dodgers' No. 20 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, DeLuca got the call to the big leagues after hitting a combined .292 (57-for-195) with 11 doubles, a triple, 14 homers, 37 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 41 runs scored in 49 games with Double-A Tulsa (32 games) and Triple-A Oklahoma City (17 games). For as long as the 24-year-old right-handed hitter is up with LA, he's likely to mostly face lefties like on Wednesday. The former switch-hitter is strictly hitting from the right side now and has impressive raw power as well as plus speed, making him worth stashing in dynasty/keeper leagues.
