New York Mets right-handed pitching prospect Jonah Tong enjoyed another stellar outing at Double-A Richmond on Tuesday evening. In this start, Tong tossed 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball with four hits and two walks. He struck out eight. Over his last four outings with Double-A (26 1/3 frames), Tong has struck out 40 batters and held a 1.37 ERA and a 0.99 WHIP. Through 54 1/3 total innings with Double-A Binghamton, Tong has performed at an elite level, posting a 1.99 ERA with a 1.03 WHIP. During this stretch, Tong has tallied 91 total strikeouts but has sometimes struggled with his command, allowing 29 free passes. Last season, Tong spent most of his time with High-A and held a higher 3.71 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP across 85 innings of work. Given his steady progress, Tong should be in the mix to reach Triple-A later this summer.--Andy SmithRead More News
